THE CENTENARY OF GUIDING is just weeks away and many Trefoil Guild members and Guilds have already stared to make a difference with ‘Change the World’. See some of their reports in the Change the World article on the Celebrate page. Don’t forget to record what you have done by going direct to www.girlguiding.org.uk/changingtheworld
Trefoil Guild members have many and varied opportunities for participation in 2010. Below is a taste of some of the things available and information on how to find out more. 100 years of Guiding – something to celebrate. Push some boundaries, live a dream!
For information on the Centenary Tours for Adults, which are open to adult members of Girlguiding UK and the Trefoil Guild and their friends from the UK and abroad, or the Centenary flower beds click on the Word Documents at the bottom of this page. Please note there are FINAL dates for booking the coach tours so don't miss out.
Trefoil Guild Chairmen can keep up to date with what is happening in their County by keeping in contact with the County Centenary Champion who knows what is happening locally and receives a monthly update about national events. The Centenary website has details of volunteer opportunities some of which may be open to Trefoil Guild members. There will also be many local opportunities where help would be appreciated for example the Launch parties in September 2009 and local World Thinking Day Festivals in February 2010. Contact your local Commissioner or County Centenary Champion for more information.
For the attention of COUNTY CHAIRMEN - your help is needed in the Centenary Heritage plans, in particular with the STORY GATHERING PROJECT. We would like each Guild to produce a Log book of A4 size containing: 1) The history of your Guild and 2) The personal Guiding history of each member using the following questions: a) HOW did you become involved in Guiding? b) WHEN did you join the Movement? c) WHERE did you do your Guiding? d) WHO had the most influence on you in the Movement? Please include photographs which can be scanned and returned: do not write on the back of photographs but supply relevant information on a separate piece of paper. Together we can produce something very special. “We are the here and now, recording our yesterdays and today’s for those who will follow us tomorrow.”
