On a Saturday in May a group of 36 made up of Trefoil members, Guiders and Brownies set out on their Centenary Adventure, which was to include a flight on the London Eye and a visit to the Crystal Palace Maze. To allow all members to go, including those who were not as `agile` as they would like to be, we hired four wheelchairs.
It was raining as we left Dover by coach but on arriving at the Eye the sun was shining. For some this was their first time, others were ‘old timers`. The sights and views from the top were fantastic!
Then it was back to the coach for the short trip to the Maze. On arrival the wheelchairs were readily taken up, with volunteers ready to assist. A picnic lunch was enjoyed in the shade of the trees. After lunch it was on to the fun of the Maze, with lots of laughter and instructions being given over the hedges. All eventually arrived safely at the centre.
Before leaving we took the opportunity to stand quietly for a few moments and listen to the `peaceful silence` of this beautiful place! One Brownie made her Promise then the Trefoil members and Guiders renewed their Promises and five were welcomed as Trefoil Guild members. All too soon it was time to make our way back to the coach for our homeward journey. This was a very special day, during a very special year and will be remembered by all for a very long time.
